Wilmer Mason
GLENROCK, Wyo. —Wilmer Mason, 86, died Feb. 21, 2007, in Casper, Wyo.
A memorial service was held Feb. 24 at First Assembly of God, Glenrock, with Pastor Cleaties Jeffcoat officiating.
Interment was in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, Evansville, Wyo.
Wilmer was the second son born to William B. and Ella (Benshoof) Mason Oct. 15, 1920, in rural Laurel. He lived there until he entered the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in North Africa, France and Italy. He married Gladys Bush Sept. 23, 1967, in Manchester, Iowa. They lived in various places until purchasing a home in Douglas, Wyo., where they resided for 30 years. In 2001, they moved to Glenrock and joined the First United Methodist Church. Along with his faith, he pursued a career in the arts, working as a cartoonist and painter throughout the area. Most recently, he published his first book, "Cartoon Art in Business Advertising — A Working Manual for Learning to Draw Cartoons in Advertising," which is a collection of his work.
In addition to drawing, he enjoyed painting, hunting and traveling.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; one brother, Melvin, Laurel; a sister, Ella Mae Hander, Omaha; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Mason.
