Therma F. Kiepe
Ute, Iowa — Therma F. Kiepe, 83, Ute, Iowa, died Feb. 24, 2007, at St. Luke Lutheran Home, Spencer, Iowa.
A prayer service was held Feb. 27 at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Ute.
Funeral Services were Feb. 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ute, with Pastor Edward Brandt officiating.
Interment was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute.
Pallbearers were Randy Stanzyk, Chad Kiepe, Marvin Rude, Norman Timm, Myron Kunze, Jeff Stanzyk, Gary Kunze and Ronnie Kunze.
Honorary Pallbearers were Don Gries, Bob Henderson, Bill Urwiler, Jack Shaben, Craig Lynn, Jeff Bohnenkamp, Jeff Pithan and Jim Longlee.
Therma Florence Kiepe, daughter of Henry Peter and Alma Marie (Mahler) Kunze was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Ute, Monona County, Iowa. She was baptized Feb. 10, 1924, at St. Paul¹s Lutheran Church, Ute, by Pastor Krag and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 3, 1938, at St. Paul¹s by Pastor Hugo Nieting.
She attended grade school at the Ute Public School, eighth grade at St. Paul¹s Parochial School and graduated from Ute High School in 1942. She attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa, and taught the Mordhorst School for two years.
She married Sgt. Martin C. Kiepe, Sept. 3, 1944. They lived at Edgewood Arsenal, Md., where Martin was stationed. She was employed in the Administration Building, as a clerk typist. They returned to Ute after World War II ended. Martin died Nov. 9, 1986.
She was a catechism, Sunday school and bible class teacher for many years. She did substitute teaching in the Ute Public School; Charter Oak-Ute Consolidated School, Mapleton; and Soldier schools.
She had been an assistant Girls 4-H Leader to Jenette Johnson and Assistant City Clerk to Helene Mordhorst and was appointed Bicentennial Chair Woman of the town of Ute by Mayor Archie Mahoney.
She was a member of St. Paul¹s Lutheran Church, Church Choir, L.W.M.L., Lydia Circle and the Adult Bible Class at St. Paul¹s. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Aaby Unit #442 of Ute, and the Ute Senior Citizens.
Therma enjoyed her flower garden and vegetable garden, making quilts and afghans and crafts. She also enjoyed her neighbors, family, and friends. She especially was a lover of children, young and old.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Riddle and husband, Myron, Kearney, and Donna Waterbury and husband, Tom, Alton, Iowa; three sons, Terry Kiepe and his wife, Diane, Spencer, Iowa; Donny Kiepe and his wife, Trish, Spencer, Iowa; and Troy Kiepe and his wife Mindy, Royal, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Renae Zimmer and her husband, Dave, Kearney; Ryan Riddle, New Orleans, La.; Shawn Zenor and Laurie, Volcano, Hawaii; Shannon and her husband, John Jensen, Iowa Falls, Iowa; Steven Zenor and his wife, Brenda, Alton, Iowa; Katie and Lexie Kiepe and Marty Kiepe, Spencer, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Destiny, Felicity and Dakota, Royal, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Wilbur and Helen Kunze, Mapleton, Iowa, and Henry and Coreen Kunze, McMinnville, Ore.; three sisters, Ardis Behen, Gardena, Calif.; Helen Stanzyk, Carroll, Iowa; and Patricia Rude and her husband Marvin, Morris, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Ervin Kiepe and his wife Kathy, Ute, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Arlene Kiepe, Mapleton, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband¹s parents, her husband, two brothers, four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, one infant niece and two nephews.
