Mary E. Lanphear
Mary E. Lanphear, age 67, of Hartington, died on Monday May 14, 2007 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hartington with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a video tribute and a time of sharing at 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Mary was born on February 13, 1940 at Crofton to Augustus and Charlotte (Ritts) Fritz. She grew up in the Crofton area and married Lyle L. Lanphear Sr. on June 9, 1958 at Sioux Falls. He died on September 21, 1989 at the age of 55. After her marriage they lived in Hartington and Mary worked at Gurney’s Seed and Nursery, Dale Electronics, Hartington Telecommunications, First Bank Card Center in Yankton, and Experienced Works.
She was a member of the First Congregational UCC and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time on her computer and taking care of her animals.
Mary is survived by 5 children, Joe Lanphear of Hartington, Lyle and Laura Lanphear Jr. of Evans, CO, Bev Lanphear and Tim Moe of Estelline, SD, Ellen Bonertz and Anthony Garcia of Greeley, CO, Chris Lanphear and Lee Anne Pretends Eagle of Norfolk, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Charles and Mary Beth Halle of Gary IN, Alton “Ponch” Halle of Hartington, 3 sisters, Shirley and Merritt Pulkrebek of Scotland, SD, Donna and Joe Copley of Loveland, CO, and Carol and Jerry Dickes of South Sioux City, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandmother, Ellen Ritts, and a nephew, Shannon Dickes.
