Myrtle Jacot
Verdigre — Myrtle Jacot, 88, Verdigre, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Alpine Village Retirement Center, Verdigre.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services were Feb. 15 at the Brockhaus Funeral Home, Verdigre, with burial in the Jelen Cemetery.
Myrtle Jacot was born May 7, 1918, to Parker and Anna (Barthman) Hildreth on the family farm near Walnut. When Myrtle was two years old, her mother died leaving nine children including a six-week-old infant. This baby, Maxine, was adopted by an aunt, and Myrtle and Olive were sent to live with their uncle John Hildreth, Omaha, when they were seven and nine years old. After a year in Omaha, they came back and Myrtle lived with her paternal grandfather in Creighton. She graduated from the eighth grade at Pleasant Hill School, while she was living with her brother, Floyd Hildreth, and sister, Elsie Caskey.
Myrtle was working in Omaha and living with her sister, Bertha Heinz, when she met and married Dewey Faughender in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1937. One son, Charles, was born to this union.
After returning to Knox County, she met and married Joe Jacot, Sr. They lived in Verdigre all of their married life. Four children were born to them, Joline, 1942; Judy, 1943; Karen, 1946; and Ted, 1959.
Myrtle enjoyed various jobs - helping at Felix’s Cafe, being a telephone operator, and cooking in the Verdigre Public School lunchroom for 18 years. She loved to play bingo, cards and work in her yard.
She is survived by her children, Charles Faughender; Joline Yager; Karen Vonasek; and Ted Jacot, Laurel; grandchildren, Tyler Jacot, Jonothan Jacot, Samantha Jacot, Allison Jacot, Pam Koeppe, Joanie Kortje, Pandora Faughender, Bob Yager, Joe Yager, Monty Vonasek, Michelle Pearson and Meredith Dougherty; great-grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Cassandra, Angie, Lacy, J.D., Levi, Page, Lauren, Jacob, Kyel, Claire, Logan, Justin, Jeremy, Sarah, Drew, Kaitlin, Ben, Rhiannon and Reagan; great-great-grandchildren, Zane, Rory and Donald.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Jacot, Sr.; daughter, Judy Jacot; stepchildren, Elaine Smith, Joe Jacot, Jr., and Willard Jacot; and her brothers and sisters, John Hildreth, Bertha Heinz, Floyd Hildreth, Eva Kotrous, Elsie Caskey, Ernie Hildreth, Olive Moser and Maxine Irvin.
