Mary Ann was born September 7, 1909 at Bow Valley, Nebraska to John and Mary (Burbach) Stevens. She lived out her childhood and school years at Bow Valley.
On December 29, 1931 Mary Ann married Ludwig Becker. They moved to OíNeill, with their family in 1949, where they would remain for 45 years, working together, rearing their children and living true Christian lives. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic, a woman of great faith, who could be found with her rosary beads in her hands at some time throughout each day.
While in O'Neill she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America for 57 years, Chairman of St. Patrickís Funeral Committee for 21 years, and a coordinator for Meals on Wheels. She has a great work ethic and was tireless in her efforts to serve her church and community but never shirked from her most important duties of loving wife and mother.
In 1994, Mary Ann and her husband moved to Lincoln to continue their retirement in closer proximity to their daughter, Roberta. She enjoyed the last 10 years of her life at the Legacy Assisted Living in Lincoln. Her husband, of 71 loving years, was with her there, until his death in 2003. Mary Ann was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Barbara, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Rev. Paul Hoesing will officiate.
