Leonard C. Meirose
Hartington — Leonard C. Meirose, 86, Hartington, died Feb. 16, 2007, at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.
Visitation, with a rosary, vigil service and video tribute, were Feb. 19 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation continued one hour prior to services at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 20 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.
Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.
Pallbearers were Gary Donner, Roger Donner, Richard Donner, Roland Meirose, Marcel Sudbeck and Daryl Sudbeck.
Leonard was born Nov. 9, 1920, at Bow Valley, to Casper B. and Anna F. (Schoenfelder) Meirose. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and attended aeronautical school in Lincoln. He went to work for Lockheed Aircraft, Burbank, Calif., in 1941. He married Bonnie De Bolt June 2, 1942, in Santa Monica, Calif. He worked for the California Flyers and they lived in Glendale, Calif. From 1946-1952, they lived in Hartington where Leonard owned and operated a concrete block company. In 1952, they moved to Venice, Calif., where Leonard worked for the Parr Construction Company. From 1971-1983, they owned Bonnie’s Placs and Things in Culver City, Calif. They retired to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1983, and moved to Hartington in 2000.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, and loved to garden.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie, Hartington; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Tom Parker, Escondido, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Parker and his wife, Alaina, and Christy Parker; three great-grandchildren, Ciara, Alexsa and Camden Parker; a sister, Rita Donner, Hartington; a brother and his wife, Jerry and Rita Meirose, Hartington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Meirose; and an infant sister.
