Larry Dean Hoffart
Coleridge — Larry Dean Hoffart, 67, Coleridge, died April 22, 2007, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.
Visitation will be April 25, from 3-8 p.m., with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Vigil Service and Video Tribute at 7 p.m., all at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge. Wintz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mass of Christian Burial will be April 26, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.
Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Coleridge, with military graveside rites by the Coleridge American Legion Post 114.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Miller, Tim Hoffart, Kent Hoffart, Larry Kusel, Joel Bruning and John McGuire.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry’s grandchildren, Melissa Hoffart, Taylor Olsen, Ben Hoffart, Michael John Hoffart, Shelby Olsen, Zach Hoffart, Mikaela Hoffart and Morgan Mitchell.
Larry Dean Hoffart was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Hartington, to Harold and Marcella (Bruening) Hoffart. He attended District 30 Norris School from the first thru eighth grade and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1957. He went to Wayne State College on a football scholarship for one year prior to joining the U.S. Navy in 1958. Larry lived in Taiwan; the Phillipines; Francisco, Calif.; and San Diego, Calif.; while serving 20 years in the Navy until he retired in 1978. He then moved to Coleridge in 1978 and went to refrigeration school at Northeast Community College, Norfolk. Larry drove the Cedar County Handibus for 17 years until 1997.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge; the Hartington VFW Post #5283; and the Coleridge American Legion Post #114.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joann, Coleridge; three children and spouses, John and Teri Hoffart, Coleridge; Michael Hoffart, Abilene, Kan.; Sharon and Kirk Olsen, Coleridge; eight grandchildren; mother, Marcella Hoffart, Coleridge; one sister, Ruth and husband, Henry Kusel, Riverton, Wyo.; three brothers and spouses, Gerry and Jean Hoffart, Hartington; Galen and Leslie Hoffart, Coleridge; and Randy and Rebecca Hoffart, Bastrop, Texas; and several aunts and uncles.
Preceding Larry in death was his father, Harold; and infant brother, John Francis Hoffart.
