Larry H. Cook
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Larry H. Cook, 66, Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Norfolk, died Feb. 15, 2007, at his residence under hospice care after a battle with cancer.
Memorial services were Feb. 19 at the Morningside Lutheran Church, Sioux City, with Rev. Kevin Lee officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry's brothers and sisters.
Meyer Brothers were in charge of arrangements.
Larry was born May 25, 1940, in Venus, the son of Wesley and Twila (Bradley) Cook. He married Marlyce Swanson Oct. 18, 1964, in Wausa. Larry started working at an early age as a farm hand. He was an auto mechanic in O'Neill when he enlisted in the Army in April 1962.
He returned to O'Neill in April 1965. In October 1965, Larry and Marlyce moved to Coleridge where Larry was an auto mechanic until buying the Chrysler dealership. During that time, Larry was a member of the Coleridge Commercial Club and also served as president. His three sons were born while living in Coleridge.
In 1978, they moved to Norfolk and Larry drove for a freight company until moving to Sioux City in 2003, where he continued to work for a freight company until May 2005.
Larry was a member of the Morningside Lutheran Church, and enjoyed camping, fixing cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marlyce, Sioux City, Iowa; three sons, Lee Cook, and special daughter, Cathy Fickle, Pilger; Craig Cook, Sioux City, Iowa, and Tod Cook, Lincoln; two grandchildren, Patrick and Carrie Cook; seven brothers, Harley and wife, Janet Cook, Hollywood, Md.; Lynn Cook, Albany, Ga.; Lyle and wife, Joyce Cook, Coleridge; Jerry Cook, Fort Washington, Md.; Russell and wife, Jackie Cook, Canby, Minn.; Dale and wife. Connie Cook, Cavour, S.D.; and Daniel Cook, Akron, Iowa; two sisters and spouses, Rosemary and Norman Mason, Huron, S.D., and Bonnie and Buth Jaqua, Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Florence Swanson; and a brother, Bruce Cook.
