Janice Hartman
Concord — Janice Hartman, 72, Dixon, died March 17, 2007, at Providence Medical Center, Wayne.
Visitation and a prayer service were March 19 at the Evangelical Free Church, Concord, under the direction of Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home, Laurel.
Funeral services were March 20 at the Evangelical Free Church, with Rev. Todd Thelen officiating.
Pallbearers were Janice’s grandchildren.
Interment was in Concord Cemetery.
Janice Anne Hartman was born Aug. 5, 1934, to Frank and Margaret (Davidson) Lisle in Sioux City, Iowa. She lived her entire life in Dixon County. She attended Dixon Public School, graduating in 1952, and Wayne State College where she earned her elementary teaching certificate. She taught school for a total of seven years at Morning Glory Country School and Dixon and Concord Public Schools. She married Marvin Hartman Dec. 26, 1955, at the Dixon United Methodist Church. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in December 2005. The couple farmed north of Dixon and Janice was employed at Hillcrest Care Center for several years. Janice was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church, Dixon. She served as pianist, organist, youth sponsor, and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Gideon Auxiliary. At the time of her death she was a member of the Concord Evangelical Free Church.
Janice is survived by her husband, Marvin; son and wife, Clayton and Sandy Hartman, Laurel; daughter and husband, Lori and Bill Johnson, Broken Arrow, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Jared Michael, Brady James, and Cody Andrew Hartman, William Ryan, David Arthur, Sarah LoRi, and Caleb Matthew Johnson; two sisters and spouses, Thelma and Jens Kvols, Laurel, and Marge and Don Holcomb, Rockwall, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Everett Lisle; and a sister, Florence Williams.
