Harold Eugene Hintz
Harold Eugene Hintz, 77, Omaha, died March 15, 2007, at the Josie Harper Hospice House.
Visitation was March 18 at Kremer Funeral Home, Omaha.
Funeral services were March 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Omaha, with Pastor Alan Hanson officiating.
Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha.
Pallbearers were his seven grandsons, Ryan Koch, Travis Koch, Nicholas Hintz, Robert Hintz, Michael Hintz, Maurice Hintz and Blake Gengenbach.
Harold was born June 28, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Herman and Violet (Slater) Hintz. He married Marlene Mathers, daughter of Lawrence Mathers, Wynot, Aug. 29, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Carter Lake, Iowa, for ten years then moved to Spokane, Wash., for three years. In 1974, they moved back to Omaha and he laid carpet until his retirement.
In his early years, he liked to golf, fish and hunt and go camping with the family. He made his own camper from an old school bus he bought in Wynot. In retirement, he and his wife traveled to Spokane several times and went on many overnight bus tours. He also enjoyed playing cards with the neighbors playing hand held video games. He enjoyed going to family gatherings and being with the family.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, Omaha; two sons, three daughters, and their spouses, Mark Hintz, Omaha; Jeff and Jessica Hintz, Omaha; and Tammy and John Koch, Omaha; Kelly and Brent Gengenbach, Eustis; and Kathy and John Merchant, Sioux City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Wright, Sioux City, Iowa.
