Henry A. Arp
Laurel — Henry A. Arp, 85, Laurel, died April 28, 2007, at Providence Medical Center, Wayne.
Visitation and prayer services were May 1 at Hasemann-Schumacher Funeral Home, Laurel.
Funeral services were May 2 at United Lutheran Church, Laurel, with Rev. Lynn Qualm officiating.
Pallbearers were Henry’s grandsons, Brian James, Joshua Lauck, Benjamin Lauck, Kenneth Rahn, Timothy Lauck, Lyle Rahn, Brad Erdmann, Duane Rahn, Todd Nichols and Daryl Lindsay
Honorary pallbearers were Henry’s granddaughters, Melanie Nichols, Lisa Lindsay, Emily Lauck, Crystal Rahn, Jennifer Lauck, Aimee James, Torry Rahn, Lacey Rahn and Abby Lauck
Interment, with Military Rites, was at Greenwood Cemetery, Wayne,
Henry August Arp was born June 16, 1921, on the family farm in Wayne County near Carroll, to Henry R. and Lillie (Michels) Arp. He attended Wayne County School District #68. Henry served in the United States Army during World War II then returned home to farm on the home place. He married Violet Allvin June 2, 1947, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wayne. The couple farmed south of Laurel. Henry worked as a welder in Wakefield in the early 1960s, returned to farming, and moved into Laurel retiring in 1992.
He was a member of United Lutheran Church and the Laurel Senior Center.
Henry was an avid pool player, and enjoyed square dancing with the Laurel Town Twirlers, and the Relay for Life Yellow Rockers.
Henry is survived by four daughters and spouses, Linda and Greg James, Laurel; Kathryn and Loren Lauck, Bloomfield; Jean and David Rahn, Allen; and Neva and Brian Erdmann, Carroll; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Arp, Simi Valley, Calif.; many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Phyllis Rubeck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet, in 2002; son, Marvin, in 1969; daughter, Irna in 1995; grandson, Nathan, in 1981; twin great-grandchildren, Cameron and Auburn, in 1999; great-granddaughter, Cera, in 2004; and one brother, Harold in 2002.
