Gerald F. Burbach
Hartington — Gerald F. Burbach, 83, Hartington, died March 22, 2007, at the Golden Living Center, Hartington.
Visitation and a rosary were held March 25 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, followed by a Vigil Service and video tribute that evening at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial was March 26 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.
Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.
Pallbearers were Ron Burbach, Randy Burbach, Kelly Isom, Alvin “Dick” Lammers, John Wortmann and Gary Moser.
Gerald was born Nov. 11, 1923, at Hartington to Werner and Theresa (Schmidt) Burbach Jr. He grew up on a farm three miles south of Hartington and attended Holy Trinity School. He married Mary Sylvia Lammers Jan. 9, 1945, at St. Helena. They farmed southeast of Hartington and Gerald also sold insurance for various companies from 1957-1993. At that time, they retired and moved into Hartington.
Attending daily Mass was very important to Gerald. He also really enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren and friends, and visits from his family and friends. He always loved getting in the car and making a road trip.
Gerald was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and had a perpetual hour of adoration since its beginning.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Hartington; six children and their spouses, Alfred Burbach, Wausa; Lee Burbach and Polly Morten, Coleridge; Bob and Amy Burbach, Vermillion, S.D.; Mike and Kathy Burbach, Norfolk; Pat and Donna Burbach, Hartington; and Geralyn and Rod Flink, Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rudy Burbach, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Reinold and Martha Burbach, North Platte; three sisters, Rose Mary and Emery White, Sisseton, S.D.; Monica and Maurice Moser, Fremont; Rita and Roley Isom, Randolph; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Burbach, Hartington.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Julius, Theodore and Peter Burbach; and a sister, Leone Wortmann.
