Florence Rasmussen
Laurel — Florence Rasmussen, 95, Laurel, died Feb. 7, 2007, at the Providence Medical Center, Wayne.
Visitation was Feb. 9 at the church, and continued one hour prior to services Saturday morning.
Funeral services were Feb. 10 at the United Lutheran Church, Laurel. Burial was in the Laurel Cemetery.
Florence was born Feb. 21, 1911, on a farm near Obert, to Severt and Emma (Miller) Munson. She attended school in Obert.
Florence married Elmer Rasmussen Jan. 21, 1932, in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Newcastle before moving, in 1944, to a farm north of Laurel. They retired from farming in 1966 and moved into Laurel.
Florence was a 75-year member of the United Lutheran Church and its Circle. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Garden Club.
Florence enjoyed playing cards, dancing and especially entertaining people by playing the piano, which she was doing last week at the Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel, where she has resided the past three years.
Florence’s greatest love was for her family.
Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, JoAnn Osburn, Norfolk; Jack and Sharon Rasmussen, Laurel; and Connie and Loren Nelson, Elgin; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Lyle and Pat Munson, Sioux City, Iowa, and Sye and LaVerne Munson, Norfolk; one sister and her husband, June and Bill Harvey, San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, 1977; one great-granddaughter; five brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law.
