Dennis L. Kollars
Hartington — Dennis L. Kollars, 85, Hartington, died January 31, 2007, at the Osmond General Hospital, Osmond.
Visitation, with a rosary, vigil and video tribute, was Feb. 2 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington.
Services were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 3, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.
Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington, with military honors provided by the Hartington VFW Post 5283.
Pallbearers were Will Mantle, Adam Kollars, Paul Kollars, Jeff Kollars, Steve Kollars, Chris Kolllars, Brett Kollars, Dennis Braun and Matt Brandl.
Dennis was born July 2, 192,1 at Crofton, to Edward L. and Clara (Schaefer) Kollars. He grew up in the Crofton area and graduated from Crofton High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1941-September 1945. He married Hilaria Rupiper, June 8, 1943m at Fordyce. The couple farmed in the Hartington area until moving to a farm six miles north of Randolph in 1956. They moved to Hartington in 1977 and where Dennis worked for Neu Cheese Co. for several years and then for Prince Hydraulics for seven years. They have been residents of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Randolph, since August 2006.
Dennis was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was a former lector and had a perpetual hour of adoration for many years. He was a member of the Hartington VFW Post 5283 and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Cedar County Election Board.
Dennis is survived by his wife Hilaria, Randolph; nine children and their spouses, Dennis and Sue Kollars, Randolph; Rod and Margaret Kollars, Charleston, S.C.; Mike Kollars, Fort Worth, Texas; Bill and Becky Kollars, Randolph; Daryl and Kim Kollars, Hadar; Kerry and Dan Braun, Dayton, Ohio; Kevin and Billie Kollars, Lincoln; Kelly and Shannon Kollars, Austin, Texas; and Kay and Danny Mantle, Dallas, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and spouses, Raleigh and Joyce Kollars, Yankton, S.D., and James and Alice Kollars, Palm Springs, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rod Brandl; and two brothers, Kenneth and David Kollars.
