Delores Johnson
Verdigre — Delores Johnson, 42, Verdigre, died Jan. 29, 2007, at Avera St.Anthony’s Hospital, O’Neill.
Visitation and a Wake Service were Feb. 1 at Brockhaus Funeral Home, Verdigre.
Funeral Services were Feb. 2 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Verdigre, with Fr. Doug Scheinost as the celebrant.
Burial was in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gayle Johnson, Gary Johnson, Daniel Thoene, Daniel Heimes, Michael Hamilton, Nathan Arens, Bryan Thoene and James Pavelka
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Forman; Kathy Nachtman; Tyler and Carlene Forman; Randy, Dayna, Rylee and Haylee Klawitter; Arlan, Brenda, Colton and Chelsea Boelter; Matt, Pam, Travis and Abby Frank
 Delores A. Johnson was born in Yankton, S.D., Sept. 17, 1964, to Damian and Helen (Pavelka) Arens, Hartington. She graduated from Wynot High School and worked at M-tron, Yankton, for five years and worked at Sister James Nursing Home, Yankton, as a nurse’s aide. She married Greg Johnson April 25, 1987, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley. They lived on the farm west of Verdigre where Delores was a homemaker and operated a daycare. She loved gardening, canning, flowers and taking care of her lawn, until she became unable to tend to them because of her health. Another passion was working on her family tree. Her greatest love was children and her nephews and nieces were a top priority, as well as any child that was ever in her daycare. The children she cared for were treated and loved as if they were her own. She remained interested in their lives even after some no longer needed her care.
She belonged to the Stitch and Chatter sewing club. She loved to embroider and cross stitch and visit with the ladies.
Survivors include her husband Greg, Verdigre; mother, Helen Arens, Hartington; brother, Charles and Marylynn (Koch) Arens, Hartington, and their children, Teresa and great-nephew, Jackson, Mandy, and Nathan; sister, Donna and Daniel Heimes, Hartington, and their children, Jennifer and her husband Tom Kobza, Jessica and Jonathan; sister, Norma and Daniel Thoene, Fordyce, and their children, Bryan and Brenda; sister, Bette and Michael Hamilton, Laurel; brother, Ronald Arens, Hartington; brother Roger Arens, Hartington; sister, Joan Arens, Frisco, Texas; father- and mother-in-law, Howard and Betty Johnson, O’Neill; brother-in-law, Gayle Johnson, Verdigre; brother- and sister-in-law, Gary and Mary Johnson, O’Neill, and their children, David and Ben.
She was preceded in death by her father, Damian Arens; grandparents; one niece, Heather Heimes; and one nephew, Christopher Heimes.
