Blanche Sauser Bless
Laurel — Blanche Sauser Bless, 96, Laurel, died May 25, 2007, at Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.
Visitation was May 28 at the Hasemann-Schumacher-Funeral Homes, Laurel
Funeral services were May 29 at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel, with Rev. John Sharp officiating.
Interment was in the Laurel City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald Sauser, Eldon Haisch, Brian Haisch, Brent Haisch, Bruce Haish and Rodney Sauser
Blanche Sauser Bless was born Jan. 19, 1911, at Hartington, to Cornelius and Martha ( Knudson ) Retland. She graduated from Hartington Public High School and attended Wayne State College. She was a teacher in northeast Nebraska for ten years. Blanche married Arnold Sauser Oct. 24, 1940, in Blair. The couple lived in Minnesota, returning to Nebraska in 1943, to farm near Randolph and later rural Laurel in 1953. She continued as a teacher in the community for another ten years. The couple moved into Laurel in 1955 and owned and operated a hardware store. In 1963, Arnold and Blanche built the Sauser Nursing Home, Laurel. Blanche moved to California and was married to Ted Bless in 1990. They moved to Vancouver, Wash., in 1996. Blanche moved to the Hillcrest assisted living in 2003.
Blanche was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. 
 Survivors include her children and spouses, Donald and Mary Jo Sauser, Camas, Wash., and Marcia and Eldon Haisch, Laurel; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold Sauser, in 1968; and husband, Ted Bless, in 2000.
