Alvin A. Krei
Norfolk — Alvin A. Krei, 88, Norfolk, formerly of Coleridge, died April 15, 2007, at his residence.
Visitation was April 18 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, and continued Thursday, one hour prior to services at church.
Funeral Services were April 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Andreas Stein officiating.
Burial was at Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge.
Pallbearers were Andrew Krei, Carlin Krei, Michael Rischmueller, Nick McKim, Bart Bradshaw and Dean Wattier.
Alvin August Krei was born April 11, 1919, in Wayne, to Otto and Christine Marie (Jacobsen) Krei. He grew up in Dixon and Cedar County and attended Laurel High School. Prior to his marriage, Alvin worked on the construction of Hwy. 20 and also put-up hay in Cherry County for two-three years. He married Helen Pauline Hansen Sept. 7, 1941, in Laurel. She died April 8, 1983, at the age of 63. Alvin farmed in the Dixon area until1953, and then in the Coleridge area from 1953-1981. He and Helen moved to Belden in 1981. Alvin has lived in Norfolk for the past 20 years.
Alvin loved horse sales and he broke a lot of horses to drive. He loved trail rides, community parades and was a member of the Spinning Spokes Driving Club.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, and formerly on the church board; served on the Cedar County Fair Board; various school boards; the Pork Producers and Livestock Feeders; Nebraska Irrigators; and was a former 4-H club leader for many years. Alvin was active in the Norfolk Senior Center.
Alvin is survived by three children and their spouses, Linda and William Rischmueller, Wakefield; Kenneth and Sue Krei, Coleridge; Dennis and Lorene Krei, Waverly; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence and husband Robert Hansen, Coleridge, and Agnes Hansen, Laurel; sister-in-law, Margaret Krie, Laurel; and special friend, Marian Meisinger, Norfolk.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; two brothers, Orphious and Gilbert Krei; two brothers-in-law, Glen Hansen and Charles Hansen; and sister-in-law, Alma Krei.
